Pictures doing the rounds online need a double look to realise that the man behind the beard is actually Ranbir and not Dutt himself.
Speaking about it, Ranbir reportedly feels that getting a physical look right is easy. To get somebody’s soul right, the human being right- that’s the hard part. He says he is grateful for this film hopes that people understand Dutt’s life, his soul through his work.”

If names like Rajkumar Hirani and Ranbir Kapoor were not enough to intrigue people about this project, there are a brigade of other names you should know that are associated with the film.

Sanjay Dutt’s life has been a roller-coaster ride. It has everything that would make it interesting; right from love affairs, to drugs to crime to drama. And the upcoming film on his life is expected to shed light on all of them.
Although the take and tone of the film are still unknown to us, what the film is reportedly expected to cover are some of the highlights of his life. His multiple love affairs with his co-actresses are one such thing. His fling with Madhuri Dixit-Nene is reportedly featured in the film.
Apart from that his battle with drug addiction also forms one of the crucial parts of his life’s narration. After the death of his mother Nargis, the actor reportedly got addicted to drugs.
Apparently, whatever he earned was spent on drugs, he even smuggled it in his shoes while travelling abroad. During his rehabilitation period in New York, he didn’t know what was happening around the world as he couldn’t even complete his pending films back home.

Rajkumar Hirani shot to fame with his debut film ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ in 2003 which starred Sanjay Dutt in the titular role. The film went on to become a cult classic. This was followed by another in the franchise titled ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ with the actor again that not only did well commercially but also had a major social impact.
His third film PK which was a blockbuster starring Aamir Khan also had Sanjay Dutt playing a prominent role in the film. So, technically, this will be Hirani’s fourth film with Sanjay Dutt but this time the actor is the director’s subject and not his character.

From among the names of the celebs doing round, it has been reported that actress Tabu will be making a cameo in the film where she will be seen playing herself.
Tabu will reportedly be seen presenting an award for best actor in a comic role to Ranbir, who plays Sanjay Dutt in the movie. In real life too, Sanjay had won the same award for Munna Bhai MBBS in 2004 and Tabu had presented the trophy to him back then. The same scene has been recreated for the film. Tabu will reportedly be seen donning the same peach-coloured shalwar kameez and red dupatta that she had worn in 2004 when she had presented the award to Dutt.
If reports are to be believed then director Rajkumar Hirani is also set to make a cameo in. The director will be essaying the role of Subhash Ghai in the film whose films Dutt has been a part of and will further approach Ranbir, who plays Dutt, to make a biopic on him.
It has also been speculated that Sanjay Dutt will also make an appearance in the film. Although it would be a treat for the audience to see real and reel life Dutt together in the film, it goes in to see how the makers will make space for him in the film.

Manisha Koirala will be reprising the role of Sanjay Dutt’s Nargis mother in the film. Playing mother to a 35-year-old was something the actress was not comfortable with initially.
The actress reportedly said that she was quite reluctant when approached for the role. However, she was convinced by Rajkumar Hirani by making her understand that she is being asked to play the role of Nargis and not Ranbir Kapoor’s mother. So Manisha reportedly took it that way.
Also, in an earlier interview, Hirani had said that Manisha is a cancer survivor and had lived through the trying times. So she would be able to “identify with Nargis’ fight. The actress also happens to have been treated at the same cancer facility in New York where Nargis was treated.
